Institutionalisation of an Integrated Local Government Development Project Management System

The Government is deepening fiscal decentralisation by increasing and consolidating development budgets at the local level. Further, the Government is advancing funds directly to communities thereby increasing their autonomy identify, plan and implement projects that respond to their needs. Against the background of numerous challenges affecting project implementation at both national and local levels, the Ministry has devised mechanisms and strategies to improve project quality and performance; enhance transparency and accountability; and promote project ownership and sustainability .
