Justification
Outdated and fragmented legislative and policy frameworks have constrained coordination of local governance, rural development and peaceful coexistence among residents of Malawi. Robust legislative and policy frameworks are key promoting local development, improve good governance, promote inclusivity and social cohesion in line with objectives of the Malawi 2063.The focus will be on: Formulation and/ review of policy frameworks (i) Rural Development Policy (ii) Traditional Leaders Policy (iii) National Peace Policy (iv) Civic Education Policy Development, review, and amendment of legal frameworks (i) Amend the Local Government Act (ii) Review of the Traditional Leaders (Chiefs) Act (iii) Enactment of a Bill criminalising discrimination based on tribe, race, and region of origin
